Congrats to the winners! Next tournament is November 7th! Teams and gym locations will be posted as soon as they have been decided!
Also, after the tournament, there will be a CVNS party at our favorite stomping grounds, the Argyle. Anyone who’s been to one of the afterparties before know they’re a great time, so be sure to plan to come out with your team for a good time, some food and drinks, and of course, a dance off or two…
As most are well aware, Volleyball Canada has recently released revised rules for the upcoming volleyball season.
The most noteworthy of these rules are that it is no longer loss of point and serve if a player goes under the net, nor is it a loss of point in a player touches the net in a way that doesn’t affect the play (excluding of course touching the white tape, which is loss of point).
For the upcoming season, for the safety of all our players in all divisions, CVNS will NOT be adopting the new rules put forth by Volleyball Canada. The issue may be revisited in the future, but safety of the players is the number one concern for CVNS, and at this time we believe that not introducing these rules is the safest route for everybody playing.
Hey everyone, here are the locations and registered teams for the tournaments taking place tomorrow!
Dockyards (9 teams)
Stad (12 teams):
Prodigy
Notorious DIG
Marc Doucette
Yo Mama
Vertical Matrix
Last Minute
Lunetic Fringe
Hit or Miss
Size Matters
Lucky Seven
Jake Bussey
Gopher Balls
2008-09 CVNS captains will have until Aug. 15, 2009 to send in their cheques for 2009-10 season – this simply means that all teams are still registered to play in the same divisions at last year (competitive, Super Rec A, Super Rec B) until Aug. 15, 2009 or unless otherwise specified. This will provide time for last year’s teams to come up with a full roster for the 2009-10 season.
Please note: After August 15, 2009, we will accept new teams in all divisions. Please send your cheques to Kevin Reade as soon as possible as there is much interest in all divisions.

Our final tournament of the year is upon us once again. Based on the current standings it will come down to this final tournament to decide top spots in ALL divisions. (Court reps you better get the stats into me ASAP once the tournament is over, it could come down to some +/- to decide some winners.)
The year-end party will be held at The Argyle in Halifax.
The top of the page indicates where you are playing…
Good luck to all.
Statistician: POSITION FILLED
We require someone to take over managing the season stats. The point system used is defined on our rules page and anyone with basic spreadsheet knowledge, should be able to handle this.
The person who takes on this role can devise their own system for managing the stats, they only need follow the rules of the point system.
At the end of each tournament the court reps will send you the scoresheets from which you update the stats. Once they are updated, you send the latest results to the web master for posting on the site.
The current information which is tracked, is not necessarily required.
Web Site Manager:
We require someone to take over managing the cvns.org web site. You are free to create your own CVNS site or just keep updating the current one. Our current site is running on WordPress.
It would also be beneficial if you had experience in using the Social Web, ie. twitter and facebook for getting the word out.
You can also if you desire, host the site and manage the domain name (cvns.org).
Interested persons should contact Paul Wesson (paul@cvns.org) if interested.
1. Teams need to get their player lists into their court rep for this weekend, ASAP. Only about half of you have sent your info into Anita.
*** UPDATE: Unbelievables, Size Matters, TCC Pounders, Recyclables, and Pinnacle get your team lists in today! (Wed)
Please avoid eating food in the gym areas (for all gyms)… we really need to be eating in the designated areas! We do not want to lose our gyms!
Social in May after the tournament – likely at the Argyle more info to follow…
2. This past Sunday night someone left their sneakers behind at MSVU. John Skelton has them.
Social this Saturday at The Argyle – 8:30/9:00pm start – drinks and finger foods will be available.
We will have a DJ as well.
A donation of $1000.00 will be made to Kid Sport!
